Since I was a little girl, I always baked along side my mom (mostly just licking the bowl). During the holiday season, my mom would just pump out cookies left and right to family, neighbors, teachers, bus drivers, co-workers- anyone really. She made all these fabulous desserts, put them on a platter, and everyone loved them. As I got older, and was able to be more productive, I really loved helping her bake. It was her dream to go to culinary school and open up her own shop, so she obviously jumped on board when I told her I wanted to go to culinary school and be a pastry chef.
Once I had my mind set on culinary school, about a year or so before I had enrolled, I started watching all the cake competition shows- Ace of Cakes, and anything else where they were putting together these awesome cakes. I was fascinated when I first started watching, but once my fascination had passed, I thought to myself, "I can do that!" BAM! I had just realized my end game. Open up my own custom cake shop.
After high school, I attended the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, where I graduated from the Pastry and Baking Arts Program. I then completed a 210 hour internship at Pink Cake Box in Denville, NJ. Since then I have used my training to hone in on my skills and make some really cool cakes. Take a look around and check out some of the stuff I've done!
I am proud to say I celebrated ten years of Kakes in 2021, and in 2022, NJ finally passed the bill to let home bakers sell out of their homes; so after eleven years of producing, I am licensed to produce out of my home.
My husband and I welcomed our first baby in April 2023. So after some adjusting, I am back to my normal fulfillment volumes, and I am eager to be able to serve my community with my best gal on my hip!
Hope to hear from you soon!
